NR (nicotinamide riboside) is a NAD+ precursor closely related to NMN, taken to support NAD+ levels which decline with age. It sits alongside NMN as one of the two most discussed NAD+ boosting supplements in longevity.
Like NMN, NR reliably raises blood NAD+ levels in human studies and is generally well tolerated over the periods studied. Also like NMN, human evidence that this raises NAD+ translates into slowed ageing, longer life or disease prevention is not established, and remains an area of early research.
Well tolerated in the short human trials conducted so far, but long-term human safety is not established. Supplement quality and purity vary in an unregulated market.
If pregnant or breastfeeding, have a history of cancer or are in active treatment, or have a chronic condition, speak to a doctor first. NR is not a treatment for any disease, and the longevity claims run ahead of human evidence.
Moderate to higher, sold as a monthly supply, often branded.
