Mobility training, deliberate movement through full joint range, maintains flexibility and functional movement patterns that daily life and other exercise do not always cover. It complements, rather than replaces, strength and cardio work.
Evidence for mobility work is more modest in scale than for strength or cardio, but consistent movement through range is linked to maintained function, reduced stiffness, and lower injury risk when paired with other training. Much of the support comes from physiotherapy and movement science rather than large randomised trials.
Low risk. Overstretching into pain, rather than gentle range of motion, can cause injury.
If mobility work causes sharp or persistent pain, or if you have a specific joint condition, a physiotherapist assessment is more useful than generic mobility routines.
